Lost my Mojo for blogging...

Time really.... well, you can fill in the blanks. In between my last post on New Year, it's Chinese New Year already!

Time... no matter how I try schedule it, no matter how I try to arrange my use of it, it just never seems enough. I guess 'modern day clutter' takes up more than just space in the physical appearance... it's certainly also taking up space in my 'to do list'.

Let's see... 'to do' now includes:
... spending more time with Arthur
... learning up HTML so I can be more savvy when it comes to maintaining my site and blog
... spending more quality time with Arthur
... sewing up some skirts for my niece
... spending less time off the sewing room and the laptop so Arthur does beg me to do it :(
... sewing up a bag for Arthur
... updating my blog
... read a book... rather, finish reading books I started reading...
... bringing Arthur out to playgroup
... updating my store
... ... ... ...
(and, did I say Arthur skipping his naps does not help at all?)

Time... do we really want more of it? What then, if we DO manage to get more of it? My bet is that we'll still need MORE OF IT! Thing is, we need to prioritise things in life and right now, at this very moment, blogging just does not hold priority on my list :( (especially since I read about how people can start 'following' you much more than you want them to from your blog... that really put me off...)

Oh well, it's looking like I'll never really get my mojo for blogging back... Let's just say my friends were right... I am just not a blogger-type... I guess...

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!

It's been real long...

Wow! I can't believe 2009 is here! I can't believe my three weeks break is over! I can't believe my son is going to be three this year! I can't believe my last post was more than a month ago! I just cannot believe that things went by so fast without me even realising what exactly I've been doing!

This is late but I believe in late than never...

Peekaroobaby is now going through the second New Year and wow! I can't believe it was 2007 when I first started Peekaroobaby! This would not be possible if it weren't for you, my customers and my readers :D

Here, I just want to sincerely Thank You who have been with me through the journey, sharing my passion and joy in babywearing, breastfeeding and cloth diapering. If not for you, Peekaroobaby will not be celebrating and welcoming 2009!

The year that was 2008, it was a great year and a very, very memorable one indeed. I have managed to finally get Malaysian Babywearers up and running :D Not much and only slowly building it up, though. Nevertheless, we managed not to miss a monthly gathering in Penang and are trying our best to make regular meetings in KL a reality. We managed to carry out IBW08 activities and have fun along the way. With a great team, I foresee a supportive babywearing community with MBW!

The year that was 2008, I made a few good friends and my son grew up too soon! A demanding toddler on hand, 2009 will see me having less and less time to sew, perhaps... then again, he is also growing to be kind of understanding... whatever it is, he is my priority.

The year that was 2008 and the year that is 2009 and beyond, Peekaroobaby wishes to continue its dedication to babywearing, breastfeeding and cloth diapering....

Menstrual cups

It has been some time since I last posted on my ventures with Cloth Pads.

While I regard it as an upgrade in terms of environmental-friendliness to disposable pads, I must say I am not very keen on washing them. Not because they are extra difficult to wash or anything like that.... mainly just because I don't like any chores that requires me to get my hands wet.

Anyway, as I enjoy my time of the month without the discomfort that disposable pads bring (not to mention the $$$ involved) with cloth pads, I started to wonder into more options and read about menstrual cups....

I loved cloth pads for the better comfort and mainly because I don't have to be throwing as much rubbish anymore...

Now that I've found menstrual cups, I'd say it is the ultimate in reducing waste!

So, I've got my Mooncup during the Parenthood Fair in August 2008.... been using it since then... 4 times now, to be exact and it is, as expected, the best in terms of waste reduction. And, all you need is just ONE! It is just so convenient you do not have to worry about forgetting to bring extra pads with you.

Admittedly, I still switch to cloth pads for the last few days when my menses are waving goodbye... still, the mooncup is the life saver for the peak of those times in the month. If you have ever used a tampon before, it is not similar, but better ;)

Anyway, menstrual cups must be gaining popularity as I just read in the December issue of Parenthood magazine that there is a disposable version of menstrual cups available in the market now, Instead Softcups. Then again, why would you want to pay for something similar that you have to throw away when you can just invest in one and use it over and over again?

Somehow, the idea of investing in something that you need to throw away just doesn't grab me.... expecially when it means more rubbish and more rubbish...

Challenging a Tot

What it sounds like is exactly what it means...

Have you ever tried all 'nice' ways to teach your little one but failed? Leading you to, perhaps, use reverse psychology? Have you ever read that challenging your little ones could help them develop better? I don't really know.

At 2 and 1/2, my little Arthur is in between the Terrible Twos and well, the Terrible Threes... as much as I try to think of them as the Terrific Twos and the Terrific Threes, well, I must admit there are times when he's far from being terrific. And, these are the trying times when DH will try to 'challenge' him...

E.g... we've kept telling him not to put his finger in the fan but of course, he keeps trying to do it. DH just snapped one day and said to LO, "Try to put your finger in and see if it hurts", while I was doing laundry nearby.

The thought of it is horrific, let alone, what if my little one, who can barely judge, really did it??!! Does reverse psychology really works with a child that young? I wonder...
