And my boy gave me the solution ;)

We are out quite often these days... as my little one grows up and become more active these days, we have more plans for the day... playgroups, little excursions, shopping... and lately, he pestered me enough to start him on the Pingu English class that one of my friends started. That leaves us coming home about 3-4pm each day... he's tired out, of course. And, most times, he fell asleep in the car and I will have to carry him from the car to our home... four storeys, without lift access.

Now that he has walked 'enough' and climbed the stairs 'enough' times, he knows only too well that 8 flights of stairs to home is a tiring task... so, he will ask me to carry him. Momma's standard answer is that he is now a big boy and is too heavy for Momma to carry...

Well, after many of those excuses reasoning, he finally worked things out and gave Momma THE solution.

Today, as we are driving home, we had a chat and he did the reasoning this time...

Arthur: Momma... do you have a sling?
Momma: Yes, I have many of them at home...
Arthur: You can use the sling and babywearing, then I won't be too heavy for you to carry
Momma: (hmmm... you are right) I'll try next time, ok?
Arthur: Ya... you can put one in the car and then can carry me home...

Oh, well, why not?? Since when he is asleep, there is no choice but to carry him up. I might just leave a wrap or my Beco in the car ;)

My Little Arthur...

After reading an email on how stalkers can get info from the much loved WWW to play 'I really know you', I have decided to make My Little Arthur a private blog.

If you are interested to check out Arthur's progress and know more about us (or have been a regular reader of My Little Arthur) please let me know so I can send you an invite :)

Even from papers and articles I've read, it is indeed easier for predators to find their preys when they 'know' them. From an advertisement not so long ago, it even highlighted that children will be off guard if a stranger know their names... the stranger could easily come up to befriend them, telling them that he/she is one of Mommy's/Daddy's friend.

Yes.. scary... to the point I am now no longer going to post so much info of us to the public. Even with friends and family, I must admit that it does come as a surprise to hear people know when Arthur had a hair cut!

Momma Wrap.. Di-e Di-e no carry

Those were the exact words from my little Arthur while we are out today.

This is a pleasant surprise since he started boycotting the sling in March.

Then again, he does give me a little surprises now and then, helping me demonstrate, or, even volunteering to demonstrate different carrying positions and styles during our gatherings.

The biggest surprise from those words are... well, you guessed it right! He asked to be WRAPPED! Yes, I see that my little boy seems to understand the difference between a "wrap" and a "sling" now. Previously, he had requested, "Momma, sling (referring to the pouch)"...

Perhaps, it's time to teach him the difference between pouches and ring sling, too?

Arthur's graduation to hip carry

This is Joe. It's the latest addition to Arthur's toys. One of the longet outstanding sewing project I was to make for Arthur is something that incorporates different ways of openings/closures. I was to make a fabric book for that using recycled materials...

We came across Joe and it was on sale. For less than RM20, Joe is much better than any fabric book I could make... it's got a zippered shirt, big buttoned vest, velcro shoe on one leg and shoelaces on the other... it is the perfect excuse... ermm... replacement for the fabric book I was about to make.

Why is he called Joe? Well, it's just one of the names that would match 'Jane'... the doll that the teacher in Muzikgarten uses when she teach. Arthur likes that doll very much.

Anyway, it's been 3 days now since Joe was brought home. For the first couple of days, Arthur did have very good practice taking off Joe's clothes and leaving them lying on the floor...

Today is the third day Joe is with us and to my surprised, Arthur asked for his sling so that he could carry Joe around.

Now, as you can see, Joe is much, much bigger than the Pooh Bear Arthur used to wear.... in a way, Pooh Bear is the infant and Joe the toddler... so, Momma have to teach my little one the hip carry.

Arthur's so happy with the new carrying position... after all, this is the position that he was worn as most of the time... he is bringing Joe with him even when he plays with other toys.

It's starting to show...

Between Breasfeeding, Babywearing and Cloth Diapering... I'd say that Breastfeeding is the best gift one can ever give to their babies... really, it's priceless.

It's starting to show in Arthur that he's different from toddlers of his age.

I enrolled Arthur into Musikgarten (music classes for newborns up to 6 years old) with the main intention for him to mix around with other babies (he loves company and we don't have that many relatives his age to play with in Penang). He's only been to two classes and he remembers what's being done while he was there that he does the excercises at home, when I least expect it... the teacher was equally amazed at his progress when he was attending the class for the fourth time. She mentioned that some take months to understand what's happening... there's another boy, who is older by a month (who was there before Arthur), who is still quite unsure of himself and how he shall react.

Although Arthur only started walking at about 14 months... he's literally running now... at 16 months. At 16 months, he can do many things that babies his age doesn't do.... the thing that amazes me most is how he is potty ready for his bowel movements even when I have not train him. He will point to the potty and say "poo poo" or "bet bet" when he senses a bowel movement. He started doing that when about 2 months ago.

In the case of learning to talk... many commented that he learns fast. He can now say 'fish' and understand what a 'yes' means. If there's something we want him to pronounce more accurately, all we have to do is to point him to look at our mouths as we pronouce the word. magic.
